I learned (from the blog Leaves on the Line) that the group Jupiter Scientific has published their latest survey of scientists' salaries in the USA, broken down by discipline. It is interesting reading. The good news is that at a median salary of $106,716 for "Experienced Senior Physicists", (who knew!?), Physicists are the best paid. The full data are here. Let's all remember to add this bit of data to our list of plus points that we can use when we're trying to help convince young people and especially people from traditionally under-represented groups (see discussion here) that this is a good career choice, ok? ... and I'm off to set up a meeting with my Dean of Faculty! -cvj
