Once a year, when the calendar reaches mid-March, we nerds celebrate the calendar analogue of a very special mathematical constant. The number may be irrational, but the parties are anything but.

Pi is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. Pie, on the other hand, is just delicious. So go forth and bake! How many slices should you have? Oh, I don't know. Maybe 3.14159? How will you be celebrating this special day? Tell us your creative pi day plans in the comments section. Perhaps you'll be doing a pie-rrific calculation like the one in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNiRzZ66YN0 Or maybe enjoying the pi-related activities

at the Exploratorium, where Pi Day originated. Whatever you do, have a very happy Pi Day!
