We are well into June now (hard to believe), so I thought I'd give you an idea of what the summer schedule looks like for Eruptions. This summer, for me, is all about getting research done on a variety of projects, focussing on my work at Lassen Peak/Lassen Volcanic Center and at Mineral King. As some of you know, I've spent the last few summer collecting data and doing field work with students and colleagues, so now I'm trying to lasso all that information together to start writing up some of this research. However, as always, there are more data to be collected, so later in July I will be headed out to UC Davis with my current summer research student to analyze amphibole, plagioclase feldspar, quartz, magnetite and ilmenite to determine pressure and temperature of the Eagle Lake Pluton, one of the magmatic bodies that bound the Mineral King pendant. I'll also be headed out to California with more zircon from the Lassen Volcanic Field to get ready for some SHRIMP-RG time I have in the fall. Then, at the end of the summer, I'll be out in the Sierras for a week as a part of a GSA Field Forum. So, this means that I have a lot of work ahead of me for the next few weeks. I've broken about a series of monster posts over the last month, but they might be a little less common until mid-July as the research takes priority. I'll try to put together some galleries of Vulcan's Views and, as always, update on new volcanic activity around the world. However, the number of posts might be only a few per week if the level of volcanism continues as it is right now. In the meantime, enjoy the summer and look for some new posts in the near(ish) future.
