Comments are Saved!

Image: Erik Klemetti If you remember back a few weeks, there was concern that the update to Wired's publishing software was going to mean all old comments might be deleted. Well, I have good news: that isn't going to happen. This weekend, the upgrade will (finally) occur and the old comments will vanish temporarily, but return sometime next week. One fallout of the upgrade will be a commenting freeze over the weekend (starting at 2 PM Pacific Daylight Time Friday) while the upgrade occurs, but hopefully the ability to comment will be back on Monday after the process is finished. Thanks to everyone for all the support and comments about the value of comments - I'm sure they helped in making sure the old comments were preserved.
