There's a remake, a new mini-series starting Sunday night. I'm a huge fan of the original show--I discovered it in the 1980s. I always knew it was a a cult favorite, but until I read this recent Wired piece, I had no idea just how influential it's been. For the uninitiated, the NYT description will do:

"The Prisoner" of old was a cold war thriller that served up parables about free will and social conformity.

The television station AMC (which is broadcasting the remake) is also serving up all 17 episodes of the original on its website. While I'm on the subject of Brit espionage programs, I'm forever thankful to PBS for introducing me to The Sandbaggers (also back in the 80s). As this site notes:

It's the best damned show most people never saw.
