The new volcanic island produced at Nishinoshima, seen on November 21, 2013. Nishinoshima could be a contender for the 2013 Pliny. Image: Japan Coast Guard So, now that I'm back from my week at AGU, I'm paying the price. I have an immense amount of grading and other job-related responsibilities to tackle over the next week, so posts may be sparse (unless something big happens) until I clear out the rest of the semester (which ends on 12/2o). However, after that, look for the voting for the 2013 Pliny for Volcanic Event of the Year, the Volcanic Year in Review and more. If you want to start thinking back on the year, be sure to check out the Atlantic's visual 2013 Year in Volcanic Activity.
