In the 13th century, Alfonso the Wise said:

Had I been present at the creation, I would have given some useful hints for the better ordering of the universe.

That may sound like the ultimate in hubris. But then I read something like this, and I think that maybe God could have used some critical thinking of His own when He made things... The link is a bit old (from October 2006) but it's timeless, and you can point your neighborhood creationist to it whenever they claim the eye must have been designed.
